Clarkson’s Farm Chief Reveals He Was Shocked To See Jeremy Clarkson’s Show Succeed: “It Absolutely Blew Us Away”

The Grand Tour’s executive producer Andy Wilman has revealed that he was surprised that Clarkson’s Farm was such a hit. The show, presented by Jeremy Clarkson and featuring other stars such as Kaleb Cooper and Lisa Hogan, was released to huge praise, and now Andy has revealed his thoughts on this.

The first series was received well by viewers as it showed the reality behind farming from its simple pleasures to its harrowing issues, but Andy, who produced both The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm, didn’t expect it to be quite as big as it turned out to be.

Talking to the press, Andy admitted that its success surprised him: “They [Richard Hammond and James May] were chuffed for him because we didn’t really think the farm was going to be that big of a hit and you never know.

“I know Jeremy was nervous because you think, ’Is me going farming actually going to work? Is anybody going to look on their Amazon homepage and go oh, I’ll watch that because it doesn’t sound that exciting.’

“So the success of it was mind-blowing. It absolutely blew us away. I couldn’t see that coming I hoped it would work but not to the level it did.”

The first series saw the initial building of Jeremy’s farming career as he got to grips with purchasing seeds and fertilisers as well as a bunch of animals and, of course, his large Lamborghini tractor. We also watched the building of Diddly Squat Farm Shop, which has ended up being the most profitable part of the farm.

Of course, the farm barely made any profit by the end of the first year, but the income from Amazon and Jeremy’s endless other profits has likely made up for this. Plus, with not only season 2 around the corner, but hopefully a restaurant on the land, too, the only way is up for the presenter.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
