Jeremy Clarkson Lashes Out At F1 In Lewis Hamilton Red Bull Rant

As the presenter of The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm, Jeremy Clarkson is no stranger to expressing his opinions on all things automotive. In his latest column for The Sun, the outspoken Clarkson has taken aim at the F1, after watching the season-opening Bahrain GP and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Known for his willingness to push boundaries, Clarkson is not one to hold back on his thoughts. After a controversial column on Meghan Markle, he’s now turned his attention to Formula 1.

Clarkson has accused the sport of being “boring” due to factors that prevent the drivers from racing properly. In his column, he wrote:

“We like to think that when the red lights go out at the beginning of a Formula 1 race, every single one of the drivers goes round every corner and down every straight as fast as is humanly and mechanically possible.

“That’s what racing is all about, surely? It seems not.”

Clarkson’s comments were sparked by the recent Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton raced up behind his Mercedes teammate George Russell, putting Russell under threat of being told to move over. In order to stay ahead of his teammate, Russell pushed the car more, which Clarkson argued he should have been doing anyway.

“When Lewis Hamilton came up behind his team-mate, George Russell, in last weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, George solved the problem by driving more quickly,” he wrote.

“Why didn’t he do that in the first place?”

Clarkson also criticized the Red Bulls, who were instructed to maintain the same speed as each other to prevent any competitive racing between the two. While he acknowledged the boring reasons behind this decision, such as tire wear and engine preservation, he likened it to watching athletics where half the competitors were not going as fast as they could to save their shoes.

“And then you had the Red Bulls. To stop them from doing any racing, each of the drivers was told to do the same speed as one another.

“I know there are boring reasons for this, tyre wear and saving the engine and so on, but I wonder how many people would watch athletics if they thought half the competitors were not going as fast as they could. To prolong the life of their shoes.”

In typical Clarkson fashion, his comments have caused a stir within the F1 community. However, it remains to be seen whether his criticisms will have any impact on the sport. Regardless, Clarkson has once again made his views on racing clear, and his fans are sure to be entertained by his latest column.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
