Jeremy Clarkson Revealed To Fans That His Lamborghini Brakes Failed At 186mph

Jeremy Clarkson revealed to fans that he once lost all braking as he was driving around the track, Imola. This is a special track to the Grand Tour presenter, with him not only featuring it heavily on Top Gear, but he also told fans that it was his favourite track of all.

With Formula 1 returning to the famous track only last year, Jeremy was keen to reminisce on his history with the famous track. While we likely remember it as being the track Jeremy, Richard Hammond, and James May raced a Ferrari 458 with a number of supercars.

Imola is incredibly dangerous. It’s tight and fast, and took the likes of the great Ayrton Senna in 1994. Since then, the track has been changed slightly, but its danger levels are still high.

Armed with a Lamborghini Aventador, Mclaren MP4-12C and Noble M600, the trio set out to beat a time set by a Ferrari 458 driven by the Italian Stig. But after hurling his car down the Imola straight at 186mph, the carbon-ceramic brakes on the Italian supercar overheated, nearly sending him into a wall.

“What’s amazing is that I was doing 186 in an Aventador on the straight at Imola. But then its brakes failed,” Jeremy told fans.

Richard, behind the wheel of the British Noble, also lost control and ran off the track.

This isn’t such a surprise. The M600 has little in the way of driver aids, and Hammond is known to have a bit of bad luck once in a while… And pushing a car’s limits at Imola isn’t one for the faint of heart.
