Jeremy Clarkson Teases Armoured Car Grand Tour Challenge In Ukraine As Russia Continues To Wage War

Jeremy Clarkson has admitted on Twitter that he’s been thinking up an idea which involves him and his fellow Grand Tour presenters Richard Hamond and James May driving into Ukraine in three armoured vehicles.

The Grand Tour was recently revealed to be filming around the Arctic Circle in three rally-bred cars, a Subaru Impreza WRX, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8, and an Audi RS4. This comes after their plans to head to Russia was shelved after the country wages war on Ukraine. In fact, The Grand Tour trio were set to be filming in Russia, but was cancelled due to the pandemic and many wonder if the idea was translated into something that would work in Norway.

Jeremy has been very vocal about his feelings on the invasion in Ukraine, uploading several tributes to Instagram.

He later teased the next episode of the popular car show with yet another tribute as their cars reflected the colours of the Ukraine flag:

On top of this, he threw abuse at Russian F1 driver Nikita Mazepin after his throwaway comments on the war:

“Nikita Mazepin. You f****ng r****d. Go and race in Russia on your own,” he posted to Twitter. “You’d still lose.”

Now, a fan threw a pitch to Clarkson on the social media site:

@JeremyClarkson quick pitch: You and the fellas outfit a few armored recon vehicles and race to #Ukraine #UkraineRussianWar,” (sic) a fan said. Jeremy responded to many fans’ surprise.

“That’s weird. I had the exact same thought last night,” he wrote.

This, however mad, would make for a brilliant episode as he, Richard, and James rode into the country in something interesting. The Grand Tour, and previously Top Gear, is no stranger to an armoured vehicle.

Richard Hammond has had experience behind the ‘wheel’ of a Ripsaw tank, as well as the epically sized Marauder armoured vehicle. One of those each and we’re sure Jeremy and co. could make their mark in Ukraine.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
