Richard Hammond Reveals The Grand Tour Is Filming Another Episode This Year

It hasn’t been too long since it was confirmed that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May were at the Arctic Circle filming for another episode of The Grand Tour. They were photographed and video’d driving three rally inspired cars from Norway and up around the Arctic Circle. Now, Hammond has confirmed that they’re soon off to film another episode.

While episodes have been few and far between thanks to the lockdown that all but shut down the United Kingdom, hopefully this means we’ll be seeing more special episodes as COVID regulations settle.

Richard talked to RadioTimes.com about his new panel show Brain Reaction, but what we’re really interested in is what he had to say about the next episode of The Grand Tour:

“We’ve already filmed one – we’re not long back from that,” he said referencing the Arctic Circle special.

“We’re ready to go off and do another, and they are huge missions to go and do,” he said.

“Lockdown was a bit tricky for that, but I think the great thing is I’ve managed to keep busy with other stuff, and we’ll continue to do that.

“The joy for me 30 odd years into a broadcasting career, I’m able to do shows at all ends of the spectrum whether being massively costly, complicated, big ones or smaller, quicker, more light and nimble. So they’re all great fun to make.

“I’ve been lucky enough to sort of cherry pick and do the shows I really want to do. So you’ll never see me there doing something I’m not really engaged in. They’re all things I want to make.”

He wasn’t able to give any details on what they’ve been doing while filming, but he admits that the trio has “certainly been very busy the tail end of lockdown” with them now being able to travel outside of the UK.

“My passport can come out of my desk drawer again,” he joked. “It’s been locked away like 25 years! Yes, things are easing up and TV and entertainment certainly has a role to play right now. I think anything you can escape into we’re all glad for.”

As usual we’ll keep our eyes out for any Grand Tour filming later this year, but if you want to know what went down during the Arctic Circle special, click the big button below.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
