Richard Hammond’s Lockdown Projects Nearing Completion In New Video

Richard Hammond has been keeping himself rather busy during lockdown, he’s been crashing his motorbike, comparing his Mustang to his wife’s, having a hair cut, returned to Instagram, and been restoring the likes of his 1970’s Honda SS50 and a Jaguar XK150.

And now it would appear that the latter two of his antics are nearing completion with his bike having pride of place at Hammond’s place and the Jag being in a nearby shop where fellow car nuts, Neil and Anthony, have been working hard on it in their shop.

According to Richard, both projects are looking amazing and has released the highly anticipated fourth instalment of his lockdown project updates, where Richard goes into much more detail about his progress. As you can see here, his bike is coming along at quite a rate of knots.

Richard also received an update on his Jaguar XK150 and as you can see, it is looking absolutely amazing, and if we were Richard, we’d be itching to take it out for a spin as soon as possible. Don’t worry about the numberplate in the image below, it is just a placeholder to show where the plate will go and what it will look like. Neil and Anthony have been working hard at getting the XK150 back to original spec, which is Jaguar Mist Grey.

However, Hammond will have to wait to take his gorgeous XK150 out on the roads as the interior hasn’t been installed back into the car yet as it is still being refurbished for Richard. However, we can expect to see the completed interior in the next update on his projects.

Finally the engine, it has been completely cleaned and spruced up and is looking almost brand new. Anthony has taken up the majority of the engine work, and he hasn’t just been making it look all new and shiny either as he’s been hard at work upgrading it too. Firstly he has fitted a Revotec water temperature sensor which has been connected up to an electric fan as well as an alloy radiator to stop the engine getting too hot, it will also be running along the original fan to give the Jag double cooling. As well as this, they have also installed an alternator instead of a dynamo which gives the car more reliable power and better output and finally a brand new 2 inch stainless steel exhaust system to give the car the sound it truly deserves.

Here at Grand Tour Nation, we’ll be honest… we’re quite jealous of Mr Hammond and especially of his Jaguar XK150, but we’re equally incredibly excited to see him finally on the road with it. You can see the full video from DriveTribe here:
