The Grand Tour Slammed As “Litter Louts” After Debris Left From Episode Filming

The Grand Tour is filming yet again, but rather unsurprisingly, it’s attracted some unwanted attention after the public branded the show as littering after a host of car parts were left thrown across rural land.

A video was uploaded to Twitter towards the end of April by Mark Easthope, a resident of Powys where the litter was found, which recorded litter across farmland in the shape of car parts. Mirrors, headlights, bumper pieces, and more were found thrown across the public field after being used for an episode. The Grand Tour account was tagged told that they should have done a better job at cleaning up after filming.

Andy Wilman, executive producer of The Grand Tour replied, agreeing that this was unacceptable and assured the public that this was a mistake rather than a purposeful lack of respect or “cavalier attitude”, replying to the original tweet with the following:

“I wouldn’t want anyone to think we’re litter louts who just come to the countryside and use it as a playground, because we absolutely don’t do that.

“It happened on our watch. It wasn’t our policy to turn our backs on whatever we do. We had a system in place, in cooperation with the landowner, and it was a mistake rather than a cavalier attitude.

“Even though it was a genuine oversight and not an act of disregard for our surroundings, he (Mr Easthope) was right to kick off.”

May 16th brought an update to this story, however, as Mark posted another video to Twitter thanking The Grand Tour for their thorough cleanup job:

“Thank you to #AndyWilman and @thegrandtour for taking responsibility and apologising.

“After my walk today I’m glad to report that this has now been cleared up, so again #ThankYou.”

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May were each spotted filming in Wales on an episode that is thought to revolve around french cars. They were spotted in mid-Wales where they stayed at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells, and were later seen in Brecon and Radnorshire towards the end of April.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more about their filming in Wales.
