The Grand Tour’s Abbie Eaton Gives Update As She Restarts Training: “Nearly Threw Up Twice”
Abbie Eaton recently revealed to fans that she’s been able to remove her neck brace for the first time since a racing incident resulted in the Grand Tour’s racing driver breaking two vertebrae. Now, she’s updated fans again on her progress as she begins to train once again to get back into her racing career.
The incident occurred when her car hit a kerb during the 2021 W Series at the Circuit Of Americas in Texas. Her car was thrown up into the air and when it returned to the ground, the force broke her back. She has since recovered for the most part, but is obviously still struggling.
She posted the following to Twitter earlier this month:
“Finally brace free!!!
“Spine looks good, bones look strong, time needed for body to adjust to the new alignment my back has to take, but such great news!
“Time to take the next step in my rehab journey.
“Thank you to every single one of you that’ve supported me”

Now, earlier today, she has revealed that she had her first conditioning session since the incident. In her tweet she said the following:
“First conditioning session back, and it was 9am on a Monday morning…nearly threw up twice.
“Was always gonna be hard but it’s done now.”

Fans were quick to jump on the post to feed Abbie confidence and motivation.
One user responded saying, “173 bmp! I’d spontaneously combust! I’d be dead and self-cremated! They just need a broom! You are a beast.”
Abbie responded: “Felt like 192! Pre injury I’d be able to push to 192 and just about want to be sick. Shows there’s some work to do but I’ll get there.”
Another added: “To come back from an injury like that is just simply amazing. You’ll get there.”
A third also said: “Awesome, you absolute monster! First session and already better than I can manage!”
