The Grand Tour’s Richard Hammond Releases Solo Project Trailer: The Great Escapists

The Grand Tour may be over for a few months with its latest release A Massive Hunt receiving positive reviews from fans of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, but The Hamster still has something left up his sleeve.

Today, Hammond and Amazon have released a trailer to his new solo show, The Great Escapists, which he presents next to Mythbusters star Tory Belleci. In this show spread over six episodes, they’ll attempt to survive on a desert island with nothing but leftovers of the shipwreck they came in on, and their knowledge of how to survive.

As you can see from the trailer, there’s a lot of messing about, a lot of scripted jokes, and, weirdly, quite a few CGI explosions(?) as the duo attempt to rescue themselves as they build vehicles, hydroelectric waterwheels, and… helicopters. Yes, I can see this is going to be incredibly realistic.

The show, produced by Hammond’s company Chimp Productions, will be released to Amazon Prime Video on January 29 2021.
