The Grand Tour

Walter Röhrl Driving The 911 GTS Around Killarney Raceway

We all remember the times on old Top Gear when the guys competed in hilarious races against several “touring car legends”. For example, in episode two of season 20, they had the international taxi race, featuring not only taxis from all over the world, but also lots of known racing-drivers.

But while featuring legends like Kris Meeke, Top Gear missed out on one of the greatest rally drivers ever: Walter Röhrl. Although he never actually appeared on Top Gear, Walter Röhrl is among the best drivers of all time. Although younger racing fans may not know him, Walter Röhrl is a legend within the ralley-sport scene. He is the only german winner of the World Rally Championship. From 1973 to 1987, he took part in 75 ralleys and went up on the podium 31 times.

He also took part in the German Touringcar Championship (DTM), mostly between 1990 and 1991, winning it once. Since 1993, he has been working as a test driver for Porsche. You can watch him now On Drivetribe, going around the Killarney Raceway, South Africa, in a Porsche 911 GTS:

The interesting thing about this video is the specific view. You can see every gear change, but still get quite a good look of the track. So, what do you think? Does Walter Röhrl still have it? Let us know in the comments down below.
