BMW Reveals First All-Electric M Car – The 550HP i4 M50

We’ve been hearing rumours of an all-electric M car from BMW for quite some time, and now the German marque has finally revealed the future of their motorsport division: the i4 M50.

The car they revealed has a ‘Frozen’ paint job in Portimao Blue, contrasting against gloss black trim and a spattering of carbon fibre body pieces. With a release year of 2022, the i4 promises to bring back the drama that the i8 once brought to the brand with interesting and aggressive styling. But more importantly, it has plenty of power on tap.

Very little is known so far about its performance, but horsepower comes in at 544 horsepower. 0-60mph time is currently unknown, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was somewhere around the 3-4 second mark. Top speed will likely be limited, as usual, to around 150mph, or possibly even less to maintain a large range.

Inside it looks rather Mercedes with a wide infotainment screen that runs from behind the steering wheel to the centre of the dashboard. The seating comes from the M3 and M4, and driving modes can be found near the ‘gear shifter’.

We’ll be bringing you more news as we hear more over the next couple of days, but it’s safe to say that this is a very interesting moment for BMW.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
