Fast & Furious 9: Full Trailer Breakdown

It’s no secret that the Fast and the Furious franchise has changed rather a lot between the first film which was released in 2001, and Fast & Furious 9. Back then it focussed on modified cars, street racing, and heists. But now it focusses more on the action, huge and unrealistic heists, and more action. Oh, and super soldiers, according to Hobbs and Shaw.

So with the ninth (ten if you count Hobbs and Shaw) instalment of the movie series having its trailer released not long ago, we want to do a full trailer breakdown with the help of Screen Rant of YouTube.

The trailer begins with us taking a look at Dom Torreto’s house where he’s looking through old photos oh him and his now-wife Letty. We also see a more grown-up Brian who is starting to help daddy work on his toys – unfortunately, it’s only a tractor, not a classic Charger. Later that day (we assume), Letty gives Brian the silver cross that featured in the films previously, stating that it’s special and “protection for what’s coming”. Ooo ominous. Cue some faces of Dom looking angry and dramatic.

The later clips show the team coming back together and asking what’s next before we skip to a shot of four vehicles driving along a dirt road. There’s a Dodge Charger driven by Dom. It’s more than likely a the SRT Hellcat Widebody variant and fitted with a number of modifications. Letty is riding a Yamaha YZ450F dirtbike, which she later gets knocked off of. It’s a tough call to confirm, but those two vehicles are followed by a Jeep driven by Tej (according to the film posters), and an armoured car of some sort follow that.

We’re treated to a host of car-based action, in which Dom’s voice-over explains that no one can outrun their past. This is where John Cena’s character, Jacob, pops up, later turning out to be Dom’s brother while also being a world-class driver, assassin, and thief. A bit of action later, and Dom getting beaten to a pulp by a group of lackeys, and Cipher from The Fate of the Furious shows up, too. It looks as though she’s the one behind this sibling rivalry, and hey, she’s had a haircut, too.

The two brothers fight it out and take out a few walls and furnishings while they’re at it before we head to an all-white party – the dress-code, I mean. Dom talks to Magdalene Shaw about family in a Noble. Dom walks into the party and we’re treated to a quick bit of gunplay between Dom and Jacob. Then there’s yet more action between Letty, Mia, and some bad guys. All of the team members seem to be involved, with Letty explaining how she’d “ride to the death” with Dom.

Flip to Tej and Roman, and they’re introduced to a Pontiac Fiero with a rocket booster strapped to the back of it. But here we see sneak peek of what looks to be Sean Boswell from Tokyo Drift. Yay! We get to see the rocket car in action and a flipping prison truck that looks to be straight from Deadpool 2. After that, we see a bridge collapsing under Roman, Tej, and Ramsey’s Jeep.

Dom and Letty are on the run from helicopters in the next scene while trying to ram Jacob’s Ford Mustang before he and the Mustang take a dive off a cliff. The car is caught by… wait for it… a jet with a giant magnet on it. Dom and Letty then take the same dive, but manage to use what’s left of the bridge to swing their car to (we assume) safety.

The title card plays but, there’s more…

Han (played by Sung Kang) is back from his apparent death in Tokyo Drift and is ready to join the action sporting an orange and black Toyota Supra.

There’s a lot of action, and a few twists, but it’s safe to say that we all want to watch it.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
