Can A Tesla Model 3 Take On A Nissan GT-R Nismo On The Drag Strip?
The Nissan GT-R R35 launched to a mixed response over ten years ago. Some viewed it as the overwhelming powerhouse it rightfully is, where others viewed it as a car that drove itself thanks to the influx of intelligent computer systems that would keep it on a corner regardless of driver talent. It was known for countless years as a supercar killer, but now the competition has caught up.
It’s 2020 now, and electric cars rule the roost with their, what seems to be, endless instant torque. So which is quicker in a straight line drag race? These new fandangled electric cars, or the legendary Nissan GT-R Nismo.
It should be noted that the Tesla Model 3 you can see in the video isn’t the range-topping Performance variant. It’s instead the Dual Motor Long Range model, equipped with the ‘acceleration boost’ upgrade that increased performance to almost that of the Performance.

At the green light, the Tesla is able to hook up and power on faster than the GT-R which has to deal with its gearbox and clutches before it can move. But soon, the GT-R spools up and passes the Model 3 in its stride taking the quarter-mile in 11.1 seconds. The Model 3 manages a respectable 12.1 seconds, only a second off the Japanese supercar.
As far as we can find, there re no record of even a Tesla Model 3 Performance coming in under 11.5 seconds, so the GT-R wins this round.
