Dodge Rumoured To Be Releasing New Sports SUV Named ‘Hornet’

According to an Italian automotive media outlet, Dodge is looking to build a new model called the Hornet using the same Alfa Romeo assembly line used to build the Tonale.

The news outlet explains that this new American SUV will be based heavily on the Tonale that is also built at the Pomigliano D’Arco (Naples) plant. This rumour coincides with Dodge trademarking both the names ‘Hornet’ and ‘Dodge Hornet’ back in March of 2020.

Unlike the Tonale however, this new SUV will not be sold in Europe but will be targeting only the American market instead. Currently, the full details of its available powertrains are shrouded in mystery, although it’s expected it will use the same GME 2.0 turbo petrol engine as its Italian counterpart.

The Hornet name was last used for a subcompact concept car in the mid-200s, but with SUVs becoming incredibly popular in the last few years, it’s no shock that it will be assigned to such a vehicle.
