Dodge To Sell A Full Carbon 1970s Dodge Charger Body Shell With More Classics To Follow
Gone are the days of having to find an old chassis at the wreckers, Dodge is now selling the shell of a 1970 Charger. But get this, it’s full carbon fibre. Even better, they’re going to be doing the same thing for the Plymouth Barracuda and the Road Runner soon, too.
These licensed shells come straight from Finale Speed who have been able to build them to exact OEM specs. They’re now available through the company’s Direct Connection performance parts program, and they’ll even throw in some extra carbon fibre pieces for their modern cars as well if you’re wallet is big enough thanks to SpeedKore.
If you’re fancying building a very powerful, but very custom Challenger, you can buy just the steel shell from Dodge for just $7,995, either coated with an e-coat, or a number of finished colours if oyu fancy that. Or, if you want to go extra on this purchase, you can put yourself down for the Drag Pak rolling chassis, which is ready for the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) treatment. This includes an NHRA-certified roll cage, four-link rear suspension, adjustable Bilstein coilover shocks, Strange Engineering 9-inch rear axle, Strange Pro Series II brakes, and Weld beadlock lightweight wheels and sticky Mickey Thompson tyres.
This costs a tad more at $89,999, and will show up at your door without an engine, so this will also have to be factored into the total cost. Of course, Dodge has you covered there too, offering a number of powerful powertrains including a plug-and-play TorqueFlite 8HP70 transmission for use with crate engines, 2.7- and 3.0-liter supercharger kits. Pricing is yet to be let out of the bag for this, but we’ll update you when it comes.
