Elon Musk To Race Tesla Model S At Nurburgring To Beat Porsche Taycan

It hasn’t been long since Porsche set a new record at the Nürburgring with the new all-electric Taycan Turbo. By setting the fastest four door electric car record on the track at 7:42 minutes, it has surpassed the last record by 10 seconds set by the gas powered Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. With electric cars being the frontier of the car industry, Tesla could not let this go unnoticed. Elon Musk has responded to the challenge by tweeting the following:

The Model S delivers 62mph in a dizzying 2.4 seconds, while the Taycan Turbo S takes an extra four tenths of a second. Top speeds are equal at a limited 161mph, leaving this to be a fight of chassis over anything else. Of course, Porsche has a long and rich life of creating some of the best racing chassis in the industry, and this pedigree will certainly have found its way into the new Taycan.

Tesla, being more of a technology company over a car company, has often found its cars lacking in this department. Yes, there’s more than enough power to go around, but now there are more sporty EVs on the block, Tesla will have to prove it can produce a chassis that is up to the job.

Musk believes his cars are up for it, and will even take a jab at Porsche to prove his confidence.

Tesla might have a chance to take the record from Porsche. It will be a very close call to see who takes the top spot, but until the Model S makes it to the ‘Ring, we can only speculate. Let us know below who you think will come out on top!
