F1 Driver’s Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Hits Mercedes In Monaco Parking Fail

Just because you own an expensive car capable of serious performance, doesn’t mean you know how to use it. This Bugatti Chiron owner is an example of this being more true than we’d like to think as they hit a parked Mercedes somewhere in Monaco.

A video of this happening was posted online, showing the Bugatti Chiron being reversed in a parallel parking manoeuvre before hitting the Mercedes that was parked behind it on a Monaco street. But the interesting part of this story is the number plate. When you look into the registration, we actually find that this German hypercar is in fact owned by former F1 driver Adrian Sutil.

This driver raced for Spyker, Force India, and Sauber over 7 seasons, but in this time unfortunately brought home no wins for his teams, no podiums, and only one fastest lap. Despite this, you have to be seriously talented behind the wheel to even get the chance to sit behind an F1 car’s steering wheel, so I’m not commenting on his talent as a driver. It’s not been confirmed that Sutil was even the driver when the accident happened.

No damage was done to the Bugatti but the Mercedes was dented according to the person who took the video, and no one was hurt at all. But this wasn’t just a Chiron, it was a Chiron Pur Sport, which is an even more potent and rarer version of the record-breaking car.

The chassis is far more rigid than the original car, the gearbox has been retuned, and the 8.0-litre W16 engine’s redline has been raised by 200rpm to a 6,900 redline. Because why wouldn’t you want a 1,479 horsepower engine screaming behind your ears?

Weirdly, this isn’t the first time Sutil’s cars have been involved in something like this. Two years ago, his McLaren Senna LM was crashed badly – again in Monaco – and while the driver was never identified, it it’s strange that this has happened again. Of course, we can’t say that it was Sutil driving the car at the time. But it’s still very interesting.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
