The Fastest Go Kart In The World – I Know You Want It
There’s one thing a lot of us are addicted to on this website. That thing is speed. The time, or lack thereof, it takes to get from 0 to 60 is a precious thing – something we savour, and something a lot of us consistently try and reduce.
The feeling of the ground moving below us while we press or twist the throttle further to take us up to the next multiple of 10 is invigorating, and the feeling of our bodies being pressed against the back of the seat makes our hearts pump for joy and our adrenal gland quiver.
So when I type ‘0-60 in 1.5 seconds’, it’s no surprise that my pupils dilate very slightly.
This C5 Go-Kart is fan driven, hence what you can see towards its rear. They’re called EDFs or Electric Ducted Fans, and they sound weirdly good, as you can hear in the video below.
You may have noticed the fans on the side, too. Most of us – including me – imagine they would be used to create downforce, right? Well, the practical and ingenius people at Daymak have other ideas. They actually do the opposite.
This apparently makes the go-kart perform as if it weighed 100kg. I don’t really understand to be honest, but they say it’s true!
Daymak’s president, Aldo Baiocchi, say on the subject: “We could actually make it lighter and faster and at some point the go-kart would start floating like the Star Wars land speeder or we could add wings and it would fly. Speed will not be an issue and we think we can even go, eventually, under one second 0 to 60, making it faster then any vehicle in existence.” Now you’re starting to ache, aren’t you?
So how much does a vehicle like this go for? $60,000 is the going price. I’m just hoping i comes with seat belts…
