Ford Mustang Dark Horse: How Much Will It Cost?

The price of the latest Ford Mustang, the Dark Horse, has been revealed according to Ford Authority, and it comes with a hefty price tag of $57,970. This is $1,400 more than the Mach 1 and a significant increase from the previously rumoured $50k starting price. In this article, we’ll break down the pricing of the Dark Horse and take a closer look at its engine performance.

Cost Breakdown

According to Ford Authority, the Dark Horse will have a base price of $57,970, and customers who want the 700A equipment group will have to pay an extra $2,595. The Recaro seats will cost $1,650, and the carbon-fibre wheels an insane $8,495. That’s basically a used Ford Focus. The Appearance Package and Handling Package both feature similar prices to the Mach 1-specific optional packages.

Engine Performance

The Dark Horse has not changed much in terms of its appearance, but the engine has been significantly improved. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost, now referred to as the Modular Power Cylinder (MPC), is a completely new engine that boasts 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque from a might quartet of cylinders, a 5-horsepower improvement over its previous iteration. The EcoBoost-powered Mustangs will now come exclusively with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

For those who prefer a manual, Ford is still offering a 5.0-liter Coyote with a good old manual option. The GT-spec engine produces 480 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, and with the performance exhaust, it can produce up to 500 ponies.

Conclusion

The Dark Horse is a powerful and improved version of the Mustang, but the high performance comes at a high cost. The base price of $57,970 is $1,400 more than the Mach 1, and the optional packages can add up quickly. However, for Mustang fans who are looking for the most powerful pony car yet, the Dark Horse is sure to impress. It’s important to note that all prices are subject to change and pricing information for the GT and EcoBoost is currently not available.
