Ford Mustang Fox Body Revived Ahead Of New Mustang Reveal

With the new Mustang on its way, we’re excited to see how Ford innovates the long-running Pony car. It’s been through many generations and has seen many different shapes, and each have been loved for their individual characters. With something new on the way then, it’s no surprise that renderers are showing their love for these cars in the only way they know how.

Ford has often looked back and celebrated its history with the likes of the Bullit Mustang, but this artist, known by his name TheSketchMonkeyhas revived the infamous Fox body Mustang by bringing the beloved boxy design into the modern era and beyond.

These Fox body Mustangs, which started production in the late ’70s, have suddenly grown in popularity as fans of the cars use them to create track and drift monsters. Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. himself uses a Fox body as his drift missile, with its 363-inch small-block crate engine providing plenty of grunt to spin up those rear wheels to his level of drift.

TheSketchMonkey saw his design going in a different direction as he adds more modern design cues such as daytime-running lights, a nicely sculpted front bumper,, and black accent lips around the car. The levels of ‘box’ haven’t been reduced, but it feels much more at home in the 2020s now.

Interestingly, the headlights came from a Lincoln Navigator and the bumper and mirrors from a 2015 Mustang. These work very well. As do the new, much more modern wheels.

So what do you think? Would you want the famous Fox body to return? We certainly wouldn’t say no.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
