Ford VS Ferrari (Le Mans ’66) Wins Two Oscars

The film that turned Ford’s battle to overthrow Ferrari at the Le Mans has won two Oscars. One for best sound editing, the other for best film editing. This makes Ford VS Ferrari (Le Mans ’66) the first movie with a racing/motoring theme to win an oscar in 53 years since Gran Prix 53 years ago.

Donald Sylvester accepted the award for best sound and Andrew Buckland and Michael McCusker picked up best editing after both already won a BAFTA the week before. Unfortunately, director James Mangold missed out on an award so the pair made sure to include him in their speech.

The fil was also nominated for best sound mixing and best picture, but lost out to Parasite.

The film tells the story of engineer Carol Shelby and racing driver Ken Miles as pursue a victory in the Le Mans against the extremely successful Ferrari team. It reviewed extremely highly and was a box office triumph with sales of $52.4 million during the first weekend.
