Here Are The 5-60MPH Times Of Some Of The Quickest Cars On The Market Right Now

A Reddit user who goes by the name of u/cookingboy has highlighted the inaccuracies of the standard 0-60mph measure that usually would show the performance, or lack thereof, of a car. 0-60mph or 0-62mph measurements have been used across the board by car reviewers and manufacturers for decades, and is highly understood by just about everyone.

It allows almost every car to be compared and gives a good indication of general power and straight-line performance. But there are some downsides to this indicator. The main issue is because it measures cars from a standstill, traction and a car’s launch control system become major factors in how low this number can go, giving a lot of cars, notably AWD cars and EVs, a huge head start.

With this in mind, to give a more realistic idea of how quick a car is, this Reddit user has got his hands on 5-60mph times which takes away the effect of traction. Unsurprisingly, the Tesla Model S Plaid is on top with a 5-60mph time of just 2.3 seconds. This is 0.2 seconds slower than its 0-60mph time.

“The larger this gap is the less representative is the car’s 0-60 number of its real life capability,” they write in the post before listing the times and source of the cars they’ve found this information for – Car and Driver.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
