In-Game Footage Of Ride 4 Is So Realistic It’ll Make You S**t Yourself By Just Watching

The Isle of Man TT race is known by many motorcyclists as the most famous motorcycle event in the world. Since 1907, when it began on public roads on a little island off the coast of Ireland, the Tourist Trophy has claimed dozens of lives and even nine-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi said it was too hazardous for him to even compete.

Now, this video of Ride 4 on PlayStation 5, which appears so incredibly real, gives those of us with comparable worries about self-preservation, and let’s face it, small amounts of skill, a little taste of what it’s like to be hurled down a tiny two-lane road flat-out in the company of a lot of other lunatics.

Don’t get us wrong, we wouldn’t wish to imply that a video game can even come close to recreating the feelings experienced by the riders, who race at speeds of over 120 mph on average. But this is possibly the closest we’ve ever come to being able to hit other riders off of their bikes for fun. We joke, obviously. This is a serious game with serious graphics.

The Ride Series began in 2015, with Ride 4 following in 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It looked nice then, but the game now plays at 60fps on the newer PS5. Apart from the stunning scenery and the convex mirrors’ reflections, little features like the vibrating brake master cylinder reservoir demonstrate genuine attention to detail.

The dry weather racing style looks great on its own, but it pales in comparison to what it looks like during the rain. And as a professional homeowner in the UK, I am an expert on rain.

Seeing the road gleam elevates the suspense considerably. Making the whole experience seem even more exciting than it does in dry conditions. Seriously, open up the video, whack it in full-screen mode and sink into the seat of that motorbike. It really is impressive and will have your stomach turning before you know it as you weave between other racers.

Although the Isle of Man course is probably the most popular course for motorbike enthusiasts, there are numerous other options available, such as GP courses and the Nürburgring Nordschleife – if you really want a sense of danger. Hopefully, Gran Turismo 7 will follow in the footsteps of this game’s graphics department. If it does, I see big things for it.
