Iran Builds A Copycat Lamborghini But With A Hyundai V6

With an objective to start an Iranian supercar industry, a somewhat dodgy Iranian company has gone about producing their first ever supercar. But if you look closely, you might notice that it just slightly resembles a certain Italian supercar. Okay, you’re right, it’s exactly the same as a Lamborghini Murcielago.

Apparently it was reverse engineered from the Lambo and then reproduced, minus the badges, of course. In fact, the company boasts that the parts are interchangeable with the original car. Even the original windscreen was a third party copy of the Murcielago, but it was unfortunately smashed, so a copy of that copy had to be produced. this is all getting very confusing now, isn’t it?

There is one major change that I’d like to point out. And I have to say, it doesn’t do the car any favours.

They haven’t used the same V12 engine that would usually be found sat behind the driver’s seat. Instead, they’ve used a Hyundai V6. I don’t quite understand, either. This is apparently down to how easily serviceable the engine is around across Iran, and I suppose that makes sense… but it’s a massive shame.

Massoud Moradi, director of the project. has said they spent “no time planning or testing the car,” which may cause some issues, but they’re adamant that only specialists would be able to spot any differences between this and an actual Murcielago. I take it that doesn’t include the engine?

This lack of testing is said to be down to Iran’s lack of test facilities, but Moradi also insists that this car can reach in excess of 175mph… which is doubtful, so that could indeed be why. they don’t want to prove themselves wrong.

When it comes down to it, anyone can rewrite a Shakespeare poem, but not everyone can write an original poem as good. Just as most companies could take a car and reproduce one, but not any company can create a great original car. Maybe this wasn’t the best way to go about starting an industry, then? Especially when you lose the best part of the car – that high revving V12.
