Is Tesla Teasing Another Model?

It may be that Tesla is facing financial and Model 3 shaped issues, but Elon Musk never fails to produce a hype over his ideas and companies, of which there are many. He’s launching rockets into space, drilling tunnels under cities, and now we’ve seen this promo clip from Tesla, he may be releasing yet another all-electric model.

Throughout the video we’re given multiple clues hinting towards a new car. And unlike some manufacturers who like to keep things on the hush hush, Tesla might as well be giving information away. Within the first five seconds you’re given a glimpse at what could be the braking system for ‘Proto1’, as is written on a post-it note attached to the component.

Move further into the video and the next image of what looks to be a more than simplistic interior and dashboard of a currently undisclosed Tesla. Like the Model 3 it has no instruments behind the wheel, instead a vertical tablet-like screen which controls the majority of the car’s systems. The steering ‘wheel’ comes straight from Knight Rider and is attached by only a stalk protruding from the dash.

The front of the car looks similar to the Model X with its large windscreen and two-piece windows. Could this be the Model Y that Musk was teasing many months back?

This side-on shot, if the same vehicle (which I would guess it is) looks to be the height of the Model S. The Model Y was expected to be another SUV-type vehicle, so this may hint towards a face-lift – or even replacement – for the Model S.

Let’s hope that Tesla can start producing a reliable revenue to support these products. Let alone supply each buyer of the Model 3 with their cars.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
