Karma Has Teased Its Own All-Electric Pickup Truck After Tesla Cybertruck Unveiling

Literally hours after the reveal of the Tesla Cybertruck, Karma has introduced its own addition to the market only days after revealing its gorgeous sports car, the SC2. Well, not quite. They’re calling it a ‘proof of concept’, but judging from the dark and moody teaser the company’s given us, I think they’re on the right path.

With a muscular exterior and high beltline like most modern cars, the Karma truck features a large area for passengers, but small cargo bed at the rear. The front is almost reminiscent of Mitsubishi, with tight front headlights and a line that runs the length of the body.

CEO Dr. Lance Zhou teases the fact that they intend for this vehicle to be powered by a hybrid system. “Extended-range powertrains represent a smart alternative to full battery systems, especially in larger vehicles used by businesses and fleets,” he says.

The release also seems to suggest that the company’s putting in work to perform Extended Range Electric Vehicle conversions using the modular skateboard powertrains that they’ve been working on for both full EV and hybrid vehicles. This pickup could see the beginnings of this come to fruition.

The Tesla Cybertruck hasn’t quite gripped the entire motoring community, but an all-electric pickup of any sort could certainly take the market by force. Judging by recent trends turning towards larger vehicles, a lower cost and eco-friendly option may be able to work its way in.
