Mr JWW Gets First Drive In The Koenigsegg Gemera And Reveals Quirky New Features

James Walker of the Mr JWW YouTube channel is the first person to experience the coveted Koenigsegg Gemera outside of the Swedish company. In his latest video, he receives a full walk-around of the car by the CEO and owner himself, Christian von Koenigsegg, and even gets a drive out in the four-seater hypercar.

“Software is massive in this car,” Christian tells James. “Everything is software based, and we’re kind of bringing it up together.

“So for example, the engine is now running and it’s propelling the car and it’s charging the battery, and it’s running pretty smoothly.

“But what we will do quite soon is, we’re revving up to four-and-a-half thousand now in the car, we’re revving higher in the dyno, but we’re kind of stepping that up as we go to its eight-and-a-half thousand max RPM.

“And also bringing that emotion that we can flare it quickly and rev it.”

He continues to tell James that, thanks to the fact you can disconnect the front wheels from the powertrain thanks to hydraulic clutches, and with the paddles behind the wheel, you can change the driving mode to suit “different tastes of driving”, you can make the direct-drive car simulate gear changes if you like that feeling, or have an incredibly smooth, single gear feel like the Regera.

After a look at the long, rotating doors that we’ve grown to love from Koenigsegg, Christian admits it’s the base version of the car that will have 1,700 horsepower. Well…

“It’ll be the most powerful four-seater in the world, but we probably won’t stop there,” he teases before adding that the heating and cooled cup holders also have incredibly high performance. They can almost, after two years of research and development, “boil your coffee and freeze your milkshake”.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
