New Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD Spyder To Reveal Tomorrow In Augmented Reality (AR)

Carmakers are getting innovative in the wake of the world being on lockdown due to COVID-19 and it appears that Lamborghini is leading the charge when it comes to this. The Italian supercar brand is looking like it’s going to become the first-ever carmaker to launch a new model using Augmented Reality (AR for short).

The car in question? The new Huracan EVO RWD Spyder. The date? Tomorrow, May 7th at 13:00 CET (12:00 BST) on Lamborghini’s official website. A very fitting decision considering the current global climate with everyone being stuck indoors.

How can you get involved with the action? All you will need is either an iPhone or iPad with iOS 11 and an A9 processor or later. Gibberish? Well yes, that’s what we thought too, so if you have an iPhone 6 (or later), iPhone SE, iPad Pro, iPad (5th gen or later), iPad mini (5th gen or later), iPad Air (3rd gen) or an iPod Touch (7th gen), this should work.

When it comes to 12pm UK time tomorrow, just head to the Lamborghini website and simply hit ‘See in AR’ on your Apple product and you’ll be able to see the new Huracan EVO RWD Spyder come to life in your own driveway, living room or even your garden.

If you live in a tiny flat with no outdoor space like me, don’t fret as you don’t have to view the vehicle in a full 1:1 scale. Lamborghini has also confirmed that this will be available for its entire range soon as well.

Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini commented:

“At a time of major business challenges, Lamborghini is innovating once again and exploring new methods of communication. New technologies have accelerated rapidly during this time of global emergency, and Lamborghini is pioneering exciting new possibilities. Starting tomorrow, Lamborghini can be in everyone’s home thanks to Apple’s AR technology, which is available on hundreds of millions of AR-enabled devices around the world.”

Apple marketing Vice President, Phil Schiller, also had the following to say about the event:

“Apple cares deeply about the people of Italy and our friends at Lamborghini. We are inspired by their commitment to return to work safely during this critical time. Apple and Lamborghini share a great passion for design and innovation. We are excited to support the launch of the new Lamborghini with Apple’s augmented reality technology, so that their fans around the world can experience it from the safety of their own homes.”

We’ll be covering the event live starting from 12pm, be sure to tune into this article then to see coverage of the event in real time.
