Owner Not Happy With Corvette C5 Length, Proceeds To Shorten It

When it comes to car modifications, the Chevrolet Corvette C5 is one of the prime choices for those who wish to mod their cars – for better or worse.

One owner of the fifth generation Corvette clearly had no interest in the multitude of aftermarket body kits that are available and set about making their own.. again, for better or worst but in this case, we are voting worse.

With some distain, we introduce you to what we are calling the C5 Junior. Brought to our attention by two Reddit posts from user u/thememelord_23, who was kind enough to provide us with a part 1 and a part 2 of this amalgamation – allegedly the owner had an issue with the original size of the C5 and therefore decided to take it upon themselves to remove the long overhangs. Clearly this is something that sounds a lot simpler than it is in practice, but we have to admire the owners grit and determination in making this thing a reality, whether we asked for it or not.

In order to make this happen, the owner would have needed to trim the front and rear consoles and recess the headlights. In terms of the rear of the vehicle, it looks like the owner has significantly reduced the taillights, keeping what looks like just one of the two lights which you’ll find on the stock model, the exhaust also appears to have been changed, with them now pointing out to the sides of the vehicle – the boot of the vehicle also appears to be significantly smaller.

Something we are really questioning here at Grand Tour Nation is how this thing drives. We can only imagine that the lighter and shorter build will play havoc on the cars handling, grip and obviously storage. It’s clear the performance will be affected and we’d love to take it out and give you a full review, until then, let’s assume its handling is off and there isn’t much room for your shopping anymore.

We are sure this will completely divide opinion, let us know in the comments.
