Porsche Announces 2021 911 Carrera S And 4S To Come With Seven-Speed Manual Gear Box

Porsche have announced a number of new features that will be available for the 2021 edition of the 911 Carrera S and 4S. One particular extra really stands out to us, the option of the seven-speed manual transmission, which will be available as an extra at no cost when ordered with the Sport Chrono Package – the seven-speed will replace the usual PDK dual-clutch.

However, with everything great in this world… there is a catch. If you’re in America and are looking forward to your brand new ‘stick’ Carrera S or 4S, bad luck as this option is only available in Europe at the moment. That is not to say that it won’t become available in the future but for now, Porsche has made no mention of the seven-speed for the US market as of yet.

As originally first revealed on the new 911 Turbo S, the Sport Chrono Package also includes a plethora of new driver-focussed tech including the tire temperature indicator but also Porsche Torque Vectoring. Also included in the manual Sport Chrono package, lucky owners will also prosper from dynamic engine mounts, PSM Sport Mode (switch on the steering wheel allowing the driver to change between different driving modes. Normal, Sport, Wet, Sport Plus etc.), automatic rev-match functionality and of course, the Porsche Track Precision App.

In terms of speed, the new manual Carrera S will have a 0-62mph pace of 4.2 seconds and a whopping top speed of over 190 mph.

Another feature for both the 2021 Porsche 911 Carrea S and 4S models in both Europe and North America include the Porsche InnoDrive System which analyses navigation data and therefore calculates the best times for the vehicle to accelerate and decelerate more efficiently, taking into account corners, gradients and speed limits.

There will also be a new exterior paint colour which will be available, called Python Green. In terms of the interior, the new models will come with an option for the new 930 leather package which has been inspired by the first ever 911 Turbo – while already available for the 911 Turbo S, Carrera S and 4S, lucky owners can now add in quilted door panels and centre panels for the seats at the front and rear as well as other leather trims from Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur Portfolio.

We’re really excited by the 911 Carrera S and 4, stay tuned for all things Porsche right here at Grand Tour Nation.
