The 2,000bhp Electric Hypercar That Has Heads Turning
Electric vehicles are slipping into the mainstream market more and more. So much so that we’ve seen electric supercars in the past. Now, we’ve seen them go one step further with the release of a supercharged electric hypercar.
The Aspark Owl is the car in question, and yes, it genuinely does have over 2,000bhp (2,012, to be precise). If someone were to tell you that a Japanese company had produced an otherworldly sports car, then you’d probably think Nissan or Mazda were behind it. As it happens, Aspark is the company to thank, despite the fact you’ve probably never even heard of them.
When you take a look at the Owl, you start to see why this car is turning heads faster than its animal namesake…
0-60 in…how quick?!
The 2,012bhp makes this the most powerful production road car in the world to date. This is all produced by four motors and a massive battery. It combines with a very lightweight design that leads to some rapid acceleration. To be honest, the stats for this thing are just plain ridiculous. It almost seems outrageous to type this out, but it can do 0-60mph in 1.69 seconds. Yep, well under 2 seconds to go from stationary to 60mph. Imagine what it must feel like to sit behind the wheel of a car with that much speed and power! It maxes out at well over 200mph – and that’s been restricted – making it one of the fastest cars on the market today.

Entirely electric
All of those stats blow your mind, but then you realise that this car has another ace up its sleeve: it’s an EV. That means you can fly around at those ridiculous speeds and not contaminate the earth with any carbon emissions at all. It’ll be weird not hearing the roar of an engine, but it’s pretty impressive that an EV is capable of this. With a quoted range of 280 miles per charge, it certainly has a lot in the tank for you to play with.
Wait, it’s how much?!
The electric capabilities and immense speed will turn heads for all the right reasons. However, the price tag turns your head as well. It costs close to 3 million Euros for one of these cars…yep. This means you’re not likely to see someone driving one around with their personalised plates any time soon. It’s a highly exclusive car, which is something of a shame. Ironically, this speaks to a problem with electric super and hypercars; they’re always going to be outrageously expensive. There are whisperings of a new Owl coming out soon, so this might help to drop the price of the original down.
At the end of the day, the odds of you driving one of these vehicles is very slim! But, that doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate it for what it is – a rare beast. In the meantime, you could start freefalling out of planes to get an idea for what it feels like to hit the accelerator pedal in an Aspark Owl.
