The 710HP Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Returns For 2023

Dodge started their Speed Week yesterday and they did not hold back. There has been a lot of talk about the new electric model which they are releasing more information on later during the second day, however, we are not saying goodbye to the legendary Hellcat V8 just yet.

The Durango SRT Hellcat is set to return in 2023 with a 710-horsepower, 6.2 litre Hemi engine. The SUV will go from 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds and can do a quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds. The top speed is 180 mph.

The 710-horsepower engine makes the Durango SRT Hellcat the most powerful gas-powered, stock SUV in the world. The 2021 version was criticised at the time for its production run only being a year, however Dodge extended production to cater for the demand which they believe is still there. Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Dodge, announced on the first day of Speed Week:

“The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat has generated a crazy amount of enthusiasm and demand since it was introduced in 2020 – we even extended its initial production run – so it seemed appropriate to bring back the most powerful SUV ever as part of our historic 2023 model-year Dodge lineup,”

Kuniskis continued:

“Muscle enthusiasts also have families, and the 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat can get those families where they want to go and has the ability to tow 8,700 pounds.”

The performance specification is the same as the 2021 model, so it is difficult to see at the moment if there will be any differences between the two, apart from the price which is likely to be higher. Dodge have not released the prices yet, however, the Durango SRT Hellcat started at $82,000 back in 2021.
