The Jesko Absolut Is The Fastest Car Koenigsegg Will Ever Make

For a long time, we’ve been waiting for Koenigsegg to give us a very, very fast car. Today, they’ve released the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. No, it’s not a vodka. It’s the fastest car Koenigsegg will ever make. We don’t know quite how fast this thing will go, but it’s been confirmed to be the fastest car made by the Swedish company, and will quite possibly be the fastest production car in the world.

“Looking at the math and our advanced simulations – it will be unbelievably fast,” the company says. These “extraordinary speeds” will surpass any production car before it, including the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport that achieved a one-directional speed of 304.77mph record.

The magic behind the Absolut is a feisty twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 producing 1,280bhp and 738 pound-feet of torque, and that’s on normal fuel. Add some E85 and this thing will be producing 1,600bhp and 1,106lb-ft of torque. Power is fed through a nine-speed automatic transmission that is simply remarkable. It is said to change gears “in virtually zero time from any gear to any other gear – regardless of how many gears are skipped.”

To make it slippery enough in the air for such a high speed, 8,000 man-hours in total have gone into lowering its drag coefficient to just 0.278. And that’s after all the work that went into the incredible Jesko. On top of that, it only weighs 1,320kg thanks to a carbon fibre monocoque and a removable roof that can be stored in the front.

Despite this mind-blowing performance, Koenigsegg promises that it can be daily driven thanks to a forgiving suspension set up.

They’re not interested in going for the production car top speed record just yet, but I’m sure it won’t take too long for them to rise to the challenge.
