The GMC Hummer EV Will Weigh Over 4 Tonnes

C’mon now. We weren’t expecting the new GMC Hummer EV to be light now, were we? Hummers have always been leeches on dinosaur juice, too big for normal roads, and simply too large for any normal person while actually being incredibly tight inside. But the new EV from GMC takes it one step further.

According to GM-Trucks, the thing is going to weigh 9,046 pounds, or 4,103kg for those ofnus across the pond. That’s three times a normal car, and even heavier than the H1 that weighed in at ‘just’ 8113lbs.  In fact, it will be one of the heaviest things on the road in the States when it’s released.

Now, this isn’t a surprise when you note it’s immense size. It comes in at 216.8 inches long, 86.7 inches wide, and 81.1 inches tall, plus an Ultium battery pack capable of 200 kilowatt hours and three otors producing over 1,000 horsepower. Yes, it’s a bit of an animal, and a dangerous one at that when you consider its 3-second to 60mph stat.

Despite this, I’m very interested to see this 4-tonne mammoth acceleraten at serious pace. Will it make the Earth move below it? I wouldn’t be surprised.
