The New 2019 Lincoln Continental Has Suicide Doors

Rolls Royce have been the only car manufacturer to be brave enough to keep suicide doors a common feature of their car design – bar a few such as the RX8 and the Vauxhall Mariva. But for the 80th Century of the Continental, Lincoln has brought them back, plus some. And it’s a bit cheaper than a Rolls, too.

It’s the first ever Lincoln to have this feature since the ’60s – its fourth-generation model. But don’t think that because they’re making it you’re going to be able to buy one. No, they’re only building 80 of this rare model for 2019, and a ‘limited number’ for the year after.

But for those lucky people who will manage to get their hands on one,  they’re going to have a delightful time sitting in the back seat as their driver ferries them to wherever they please. Like a Rolls or any other  long wheel-base executive car, the rear seats are kitted out with everything one would need to be ferried in pleasure. You’ll be treated to a Lincoln Black Label interior, an exclusive centre console with a foldable tray table, which houses a tablet holder and wireless charging pad. Fancy. Your knees will enjoy 6 extra inches of space, as well.

This extra space is thanks to those rear doors, which can open at a 90-degree angle “for easy, graceful entry and exit,” says Conti. But while this is all well and good, what are the power figures? Well, from its twin-turbo V6 it produces 395bhp and 400lb ft of torque – plenty of power for what will never be used as anything but a cruiser. Especially when you take into account that more money time has probably gone into the design of the 30-way adjustable ‘Perfect Position’ front seats.

If you fancy one, get down to your local Black Label Continental dealer quick to pre-order. Prices are expected to be around $100,000 with a release of next Summer.
