This Mid-Engined Chevrolet Camaro Could Be The Future Of The Model

There’s only so far you can get when you have to wrestle an engine into the front of the car. It takes up a lot of space, and because of that, you need to sacrifice on the front suspension layout. Then, you’ve also got to make sure the weight of the engine is balanced by pushing more weight further back and before long you’ve got a car that has made several sacrifices just to get the engine sat in front of you.

This is why the new Chevrolet Corvette C8 went mid-engined. They simply couldn’t extract any more performance from the chassis, and now it’s got the same engine layout as every other supercar on the road, it’s performance has skyrocketed. Eventually, this could happen to all performance cars as they push to beat their competition, including, maybe, the Camaro

This rendering was made by Carlifestyle on Facebook, who took the Chevrolet’s front-engined form and pushed the cabin forward, shortening its nose and making space for the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine boasting 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque to sit out the back.

It would be able to accelerate faster, turn on a dime compared to the current car, and could possibly be even cheaper than the C8 that starts at around $60,000. And it looks drop dead gorgeous.

Let us know in the comments if you’d prefer that to the current front-engined model…
