This Outrageous Vector W8 Is Up For Auction Via RM Sotheby’s

This Vector W8 stands proud in its gorgeous grape soda paint, knowing that it is indeed one of the most outrageous supercars of the retro era. Only 20 examples were built between 1989 and 1993, and now one is available for auction via RM Sotheby’s later this month in Arizona.

It looks very similar to the legendary Lamborghini Countach, but on looking more closely at the endless detailing around the car, you’ll realise that this makes the Italian supercar look tame. There are angles everywhere, vents populate the rear, and the windscreen sits at a similar rake to the front-end making it look even more wedge-like.

Swing open the scissor doors and you’ll find that this extravagance carries on inside with the gearstick mounted on the driver’s door and a lack of centre console. In fact, both driver and passenger share the same footwell, and information on the car such as speed is shown on the digital screen behind the wheel.

Sat behind the cabin is a 6.0-litre Chevrolet V8 from the Corvette of the same era. But with the added performance of a pair of turbos, it produces 625bhp and 649lb-ft of torque. It could reach 60mph in just 3.9 seconds, and was able to hit the ridiculously high speed of 242mph.

This car is so mad, that our favourite car YouTuber Doug DeMuro managed to get his hands on one. If you really want to see how crazy this car gets, take a look at the video below.

If you really fancy chassis no. 9, which has a history of only 1 owner, only 2,200 miles, a removable roof and a 10-disc changer, then you should certainly keep an eye on the auction that’s taking place on January 16th-17th. You’ll also need some serous cash, though. It’s expected to go for anything between $300,000 and $450,000.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
