Video: Veyron Gets ‘DIY’ Oil Change Worth $21,000
For some reason, I hate the day I have to take my car to the local dealer to get it serviced. It’s not just the massive bills that seem to stack up, but the problems that will always arise from a full inspection. This is why I now tend to do all the servicing myself – that’s saying something because I really am not mechanically minded.
A Lexus however, is far from a Veyron. I wouldn’t even think about attempting to do work on that myself. That’s why you pay someone $21,000 to simply change the oil.
The 1,200bhp 16.4L W16 power plant has in total 16 drain plugs, each hidden behind plastic covers or in awkward places. But Royalty Exotic Cars of Las Vegas didn’t think this was much of an issue, so instead of shelling out the ludicrous money to change their Veyron’s oil, they took it upon themselves to carry out the work.
After the removal of the rear diffuser and paneling, the guys finally managed to replace the oil and while they were there, changed a few air filters as well.
I think it’s safe to say I’m pretty lucky with how easy it is to service my own car. But even with my aversion to a pro job, I’d probably let them do my Veyron for me.
