Volkwagen’s Upcoming EV Is Going To Be A One Of A Kind Wagon

The Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 were the first real step VW has taken into the world of pure electrification. While the e-Golf was built using Golf architecture, the ID series promises a completely new design from top to bottom, and one that can be shared between all of the brand’s electric vehicles. Now, another ID has been given the go-ahead with CEO of the Passenger Cars division Ralf Brandstatter announcing the news via LinkedIn.

The ID Space Vizzion concept will apparently be hitting the market sometime during 2023 and will boast a range of up to 435 miles. Of course, the detailed specs are anyone’s guess, but we’re looking at a whole new design language for this model.

Even better, VW will be keeping its estate wagon looks, of which there are currently none other on the market that are purely EV. Thanks to this, it will benefit from a minimised drag coefficient that will allow the car to reach that 400-odd mile range. And it just looks cool, doesn’t it?

This new ID, currently under the codename Aero B, is likely to have one motor at each axle, with an expected joint output of almost 400 horsepower. The ID.4 in comparison has 302 horsepower.

With Europe still going mad for estates, we’re hoping this German wagon will make it to our shores, unlike a number of special Japanese sports cars that we’ve been disappointed to hear aren’t. But over in America, that market seems to be dwindling, with the focus being on SUVs and trucks instead. But, if VW decide to push this to the US market, I can’t think of any direct competition that would get in its way, and this can only be a good thing.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
