Watch Ferrari F50 GT1 Fly Around The Track In POV – Incredible Sound

Youtuber, Jon Lancaster, recently took the majestic Ferrari F50  GT1 around Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. The unique motorsport version of the F50 is one of only three ever made, before Ferrari moved to only focus on Formula One racing. It has a 4.7-liter V12 engine, which was developed to generate around  740 hp at 10,500 rpm and 390 lb⋅ft of torque at 7,500 rpm.

The GT1 version, which added a large rear wing, new front spoiler, and fixed roof, was made to compete in the BPR Global GT Series. Like the F40 LM which came before it, this racing variant was a performance monster, with it even outperforming the 333 SP in testing.

However, the project, which would have squared up against the likes of the McLaren F1 GTR, was cancelled. Some cite political reasons, such as Ferrari opposing Porsche’s 911 GT1 being allowed to race, as well as funding issues. Whatever the case, only a few examples survive to this day, model numbers 001 – 003.

Nicely enough, Mr. Lancaster strapped on an action cam and got some great POV footage to share with us all. If you’re the type to switch your racing games to 1st person, this should take you back to the good-ol-days of Forza motorsport.
