Watch A Full Size McLaren 720s Built From Lego In Less Than A Minute
McLaren surprised guests at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with a full sized replica of an orange 720S constructed out of Lego. Now McLaren has released a time lapse video of the construction process, giving us a look at how this incredible model was made.
The entire 720S is made of Lego except for the wheels, tires, a metal base, and two structures that hold the wheels and tires in place. The replica arrived at the festival unfinished, with 12,700 pieces left for guests to finish the build.
The total number of Lego bricks used in the finished model is 280,000, and the whole project took a whoppiing 2,000 man hours to complete. This one minute video shows a sped up version of the construction process minus the part that guests helped with at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Lego never ceases to amaze me with the incredible replicas they are able to create. People may scoff at Legos as a “kid” thing, and for the most part they would be right, but take one look at the mind blowing city recreations at any Legoland and you have to admit to being impressed with the outcome.
