This weekend the Festival of Speed will once again return to Goodwood and a host of the latest cars from around the world will take to the iconic hill climb course spanning 1.16 miles (1.86km). Over the years the rules and regulations have been altered, but five clear winning runs have remained. they are as follows:

44.58s | Anthony Reid | Williams FW07B – 2008

Behind the wheel of this legendary race car, the former Le Mans and BTCC driver nailed his run on the Goodwood Hillclimb. The sound was surely extraordinary, too. If only they recorded it.

44.40s | Justin Law | Jaguar XJR8/9 -2009

With the legendary Jaguar being pummelled around the climb by the hands of Justin Law, it managed to beat everything else that year. This was repeated 4 years later with a time of 45.95 seconds.

44.19s | Justin Law | Jaguar XJR8/9 -2008

Apparently one spot on this list isn’t good enough for Mr Law, as he takes 40% of this list for himself, yet again behind the wheel of the Jaguar.

42.90s  Graeme Wight Jr |  Gould GR51 – 2003

Powered by a 2.5-litre V6 Opel Cosworth engine, this Formula car powered its way to victory at the hands of Graeme Wight Jr with a lead over Law’s Jaguar of over a second.

41.60 | Nick Heidfeld | McLaren MP4/13 – 1999

Since the rules change prohibiting F1 cars to race on the course, it’s going to take quite a car to knock this McLaren off of the to spot. This challenge may be for Aston Martin to accept with their Adrian Newey engineered Valkyrie, but we’ll have to see what happens in the coming years.
