F1 News: NIkita Mazepin Complains About Getting Dropped From Haas – “I’m Very Disappointed”

It’s been confirmed that Nikita Mazepin has been dropped from the American F1 team, Haas. But Mazepin has now complained, saying that he feels like the Formula 1 team has “completely ignored” his wishes following the termination of his 2022 contract.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Haas’ sponsor Uralkali has fallen on rocky grounds as its connection to Russia has been questioned. It was since confirmed that Haas would remove this sponsor, resulting in its car losing its originally revealed livery on the third day of Barcelona testing. While this could potentially throw the team into financial ruin, fans were pleased to see them cut ties with the Russian company.

Now, the FIA has terminated the contract with the Russian Grand Prix, and Motorsport UK has confirmed that Russian and Bellarussion drivers won’t be able to compete in the UK. This started rumours of Nikita leaving the team and being replaced by Pietro Fittipaldi. Now, with this being confirmed, Nikita is complaining about how he’s been treated.

He released the following statement:

“I am very disappointed to hear that my F1 contract has been terminated.

“While I understand the difficulties, the ruling from FIA plus my ongoing willingness to accept the conditions proposed in order to continue were completely ignored and no process was followed in this unilateral step.”

He added that Haas “took no steps towards” coming to a conclusion between the driver and the team

He concluded:

“To those who have tried to understand, my eternal thanks.

“I have treasured my time in F1 and genuinely hope we can all be together again in better times.

“I will have more to say in the coming days.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
