F1 Rumours: Turkey Could Be Replacing The Russian GP As Country Attacks Ukraine

After the recent Russian military attack on Ukraine, Formula 1 is “closely watching” as the situation unfolds but isn’t currently giving anything away on how this could affect the Russian Grand Prix that’s planned for late September.

The attack on Ukraine by Russia has been labelled as a “full-scale invasion” by Ukraine foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba. Vladamir Putin, the president of Russia, has taken a dominant part of the GP’s podium event, but after warning other countries that they will “face consequences greater than any you have faced in history” if they get involved, the FIA will have to think deeply about its choices here.

It’s no surprise that countries across the world have looked down at this movement from Russia and its threat on its surrounding countries, so it’s fair to say that the Russian GP may not go ahead.

The F1 released the following statement:

“Formula 1 is closely watching the very fluid developments like many others and at this time has no further comment on the race scheduled for September.

“We will continue to monitor the situation very closely.”

Rumours are now circulating that Turkey could be replacing Russia on the F1 calendar if the GP is cancelled. And these are even more believable after tickets for the 2022 Turkish Grand Prix were put on sale. This was however tagged as an administrative error, but certainly eludes to the potential of something more interesting.
