F1: Lewis Hamilton Will Likely Get Away With Jewellery Ban During Monaco Grand Prix

After a battle with the FIA over the wearing of his nose stud, Lewis Hamilton likely won’t face a penalty for wearing his nose piercing at the Monaco Grand Prix, according to Sky News.

Earlier this month, the 7-time world champion was told that he’d have two races to remove his jewelry, which included his welded in nose stud. These two weeks ran out after the Spanish Grand Prix, but Hamilton has no interest in making any changes.

Alex Wurz, the chairman of the GPDA, has told the press that the FIA has every right to enforce this jewelry ban, but they should have done it in a less forceful way.

“It is a rule for the right reasons,” said the ex-F1 driver. “I would have probably liked a slightly different approach of how to deliver the message.

“I don’t want to end up in football where there are more hands in the air and verbal abuse…you have to work together. It’s a style I would have preferred in this case.”

These rules haven’t been enforced fully by the FIA, but FIA President Mohammed Bin Sulayem is keen to get on top of it, with the aim being for F1 drivers to be ‘good role models’ to younger racers.

Hamilton was struggling during GP1 of the Monaco Grand Prix today with porpoising rearing its ugly head once again. Drivers across the board were in fact complaining about suspension issues, but Max Verstappen in the Red Bull showed fast lap times followed by Sergio Perez, and Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
