F1 News: Alonso prepares for “important day” with the FIA

Fernando Alonso is at the centre of the conversation from the American GP, both on and off the track.

The Spaniard executed one of the most fantastic comeback drivers in recent years, carving his way through the field after momentarily finding himself airborne.

Alonso finished in a fantastic P7, demonstrating an elite level of speed and tyre management to bring home crucial points for Alpine.

These points were subsequently removed, however, with Alonso being handed a 30-second time penalty after the race for his car being in an unsafe condition.

In a post on social media, the Double World Champion shared his thoughts:

“Thanks for all the messages I received yesterday and today.

“It’s one of those rare times in the sport that I feel we are all on the same page and share the same opinion towards rules and regulations. 

“Therefore, Thursday is an important day for the sport that we love so much, as this decision will dictate if we are going in the right direction for the future. 

“Thanks again for all your support.”
