F1 News: Haas Drops Russian Sponsor and Fields Mazepin As Country Wages War On Ukraine

Russian military invaded Ukraine today, and this has pushed many to boycott a number of Russian companies. F1 itself has questioned its attendance at the Russian GP, with drivers like Sebastian Vettel revealing that they won’t be attending the race. Haas, who earlier today told F1 fans that they were going to release a statement on this, has just revealed that they will be dropping their Russian sponsor.

The American-owned racing team Haas will drop its title sponsor Uralkali and has fielded its Russian driver Nikita Mazepin. Typically the car uses a Russian flag colour scheme on its cars. This will be changed to a plain white livery.

Haas made the following statement using its old logo that doesn’t include any Uralkali branding:

“Haas F1 Team will present its VF-22 in a plain white livery, minus Uralkali branding, for the third and final day of track running at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday 25 February.

“Nikita Mazepin will drive as planned in the morning session with Mick Schumacher taking over in the afternoon.

“No further comment will be made at this time regarding team partner agreements.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
