F1 News: John Legend Blames Lewis Hamilton For His Son’s New Aspirations

Seven-time F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, was back at the top of the grid on Sunday at the Austin Grand Prix and fans were loving seeing Hamilton battle it out for the top spot like they are used to. Although, Hamilton wasn’t able to get himself onto the first place spot on the podium, he did pick up a new young fan along the way.

John Legend, twelve-time Grammy winning Singer Songwriter, took his children to the Circuit Of The Americas to support Hamilton. Legend shared the moment to his Instagram, writing:

“Went to support @lewishamilton at @f1 in Austin! Miles wants to be a race car driver when he grows up [shocked emoji].”

Mercedes have had a rocky 2022 season to say the least, and after some further changes to the car ahead of the American GP, Hamilton was finally able to battle it out at the top of the grid. The main changes were to the floor of the car. Mercedes had made alterations to the front wing as well, however, they were unable to use it as it did not comply with the FIA regulations.

A couple of the highlights for Hamilton, and his fans, on Sunday were when he was competing with Aston Martin driver, Sebastian Vettel. Vettel was leading the race with Hamilton in P2, taking fans back a few years. The other highlight for Hamilton is sure to be the fact that he was in a position to be competitive enough to be at the top of the grid. With Hamilton leading the race for a number of laps towards the end, many fans thought this might be his first win of the season. However, he was not able to keep Red Bull’s Max Verstappen off for long enough.

On top of this, the Mercedes team shared on social media after the race that Hamilton had issues with his brakes the whole way through, so fans are likely to be even more excited to see how he can perform at the Mexico GP next weekend.
