F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Compared To Michael Schumacher In Recent Report

F1 journalist Peter Windsor has drawn comparisons between Lewis Hamilton and other F1 legends, ultimately concluding that Hamilton’s driving style is most similar to that of Michael Schumacher, with whom he shares the record for the most championship wins.

As quoted by SilverArrows.net, Windsor said:

“When it comes to the way he uses the throttle, brakes, and steering, I believe Lewis is much closer to Michael. In fact, I would argue that in certain areas, Lewis is even ahead of Michael. He is also a bit more delicate in his inputs, particularly when it comes to braking.”

Windsor also highlighted Hamilton’s exceptional feel for the brake pedal, stating, “Lewis’s touch on the brake pedal is perhaps the best of any driver in the history of the sport. The speed and precision with which he applies and releases the brake is truly astonishing. This gives him a stable platform from which to work with the throttle and steering.”

The journalist also compared Hamilton to three-time champion Ayrton Senna and his rival and former teammate, Alain Prost. He described Senna’s driving style as “fairly linear” and commented that Senna’s “corner entries were not as early as Prost’s.” He explained, “If we look at the year 1988 as a point of comparison, Prost would always have a slightly earlier turn-in than Senna, resulting in shorter corners.”

In conclusion, Windsor said, “Ayrton Senna was known for his incredible precision – the average great grand prix driver can shave a wall to within two centimeters, but Ayrton could do it within half a centimeter, 100 times over. Lewis, Michael, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Niki Lauda all had remarkable judgment, but I believe Ayrton took it to a whole new level.”
