F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Gives A Driving Masterclass Ahead Of US Grand Prix Weekend

You can’t argue that Lewis Hamilton isn’t one of the best racing drivers we’ve ever seen in F1 history, so you’d also be fairly confident in saying he’d be able to tackle most cars on the road. One car he’s had a lot of experience behind the wheel of is a Mercedes AMG GT, and in a recent CrowdStrike video, he gets reacquainted.

Hamilton has 7 championship wins, 103 race wins, and 188 podiums to his name. So when he offers advice on-track – in this case the Circuit of Americas – you stop and listen. In the second video of a series where CrowdStrike CEO, George Kurtz, is taught to drive a Formula 1 car, he gets a lesson from the man himself.

The first bit of racing we see is between Hamilton and Kurtz in the AMG GTs. The F1 driver is able to overtake the CEO pretty easily, but with a 7-time champ in your rear-view mirror, who wouldn’t pull to the side? Although the British driver does ask about a moment where Kurtz “ran out of brakes”. “I thought you were going to hit me at the end there,” he laughed.

The next stage is for Kurtz to take the wheel with Hamilton sitting beside him to watch his driving. Now, if you’re watching the video, you’ll realise that this CEO isn’t a stranger to speed, with him racing a GT3 Mercedes AMG GT the weekend before this video was filmed. He’s seriously quick even before the mentoring from the Hamilton, who only has a few tips for him in the shape of his cornering speed, braking zones, and racing line.

Hamilton was as cool as a cucumber from Kurtz’s point of view, but a few of his fans on Twitter were keen to point out a moment of terror on Lewis’ face:

Kurtz was able to go out and get a faster lap than Hamilton, and after getting used to the car, was transferred into a Formula 4 car to get used to an open-wheeled race car. This was covered quickly in the video before Hamilton went out in the legendary Mercedes W12 F1 car to set a benchmark lap time, and before we could see Kurtz in the car, the video ended.

We’re really excited to see what someone else can do in that car, so hang around and we’ll let you know as soon as the next video is released.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
